Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 31, 2026
Effective Date: September 30, 2026
Ggobook Tech ("Ggobook", "we", "us", or "our") provides the Ggobook applications for Android and iOS, the Ggobook website and web application, and related cloud and artificial intelligence features (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, why we process it, how it is shared and retained, and the choices available to you.
1. Scope and Roles
This Policy applies when you use the Service or contact us. Ggobook is responsible for information that it determines how and why to process. App stores, sign-in providers, operating-system speech recognition services, and linked third-party websites may independently process information under their own privacy policies.
The Service is not supported for people under 18. Please see Section 13.
2. Information We Process
2.1 Account and Profile Information
- Firebase user ID and, where applicable, an anonymous account identifier.
- Email address, verified phone number, display name, profile image URL, and authentication provider identifiers when supplied through email, Google, Apple, phone, or another supported sign-in method.
- Account settings, preferred language, theme, consent and policy-version records, and notification preferences.
2.2 Documents and Reading Data
- Files, images, text, and URLs that you choose to upload or save, including supported document formats such as PDF, EPUB, DOCX, HTML, and plain text.
- Extracted or normalized text, document structure, embedded images, thumbnails, titles, authors, source information, folders, tags, and other metadata.
- Reading positions, highlights, bookmarks, notes, display preferences, and synchronization or conflict-resolution data.
2.3 AI and Interactive Feature Data
- Prompts, questions, chat messages, selected document context, folder summaries, language and difficulty preferences, and instructions sent to AI features.
- AI-generated answers, summaries, translations, vocabulary and grammar explanations, reading guides, annotations, and generation status or usage records.
- Public-sharing requests, review status, ratings, and usage counts for content or reading guides you choose to submit for public availability.
2.4 Subscription and Transaction Information
- Ggobook or RevenueCat app user ID, subscription tier, entitlement status, product and offering identifiers, purchase and renewal dates, storefront, and transaction or receipt-validation information.
- We do not receive or store your full payment-card number. Apple or Google processes payment credentials under the applicable store terms.
2.5 Notifications, Diagnostics, and Usage Information
- Push-notification token, delivery status, notification preferences, and interactions with notifications.
- IP address, user agent, device and browser type, operating system, locale, app version, Firebase installation identifiers, timestamps, network and request metadata, feature interactions, and analytics events.
- Crash traces, error messages, performance and diagnostic information, and information reasonably needed to detect security incidents, fraud, abuse, or quota circumvention.
2.6 Optional Device Features and Communications
- Files, photos, or camera output are accessed only when you select or create content for a feature that requests them.
- Voice search uses the speech-recognition capability supplied by your device, operating system, or browser. Audio may be processed by that provider under its terms. Ggobook uses the resulting transcript as input and does not intentionally store raw microphone audio on its servers.
- If you contact support, we process your email address, message, attachments, and the information needed to respond.
3. How We Use Information
We process information as necessary to provide the Service, comply with law, protect legitimate interests, and obtain consent where required. Uses include:
- Creating and securing accounts, authenticating users, and synchronizing data across devices.
- Uploading, parsing, organizing, searching, displaying, downloading, and deleting documents and related reading data.
- Providing AI consultation, document analysis, reading guides, translation, summary, and annotation features.
- Managing subscriptions, entitlements, quotas, free trials, promotional eligibility, and storage limits.
- Sending transactional or user-requested notifications, including completion or failure notices for long-running processing.
- Operating, securing, debugging, measuring, and improving the Service and preventing fraud, abuse, and duplicate promotional benefits.
- Responding to support requests, enforcing our Terms, resolving disputes, and complying with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information or use private User Content for third-party behavioral advertising.
4. AI Processing
When you request an AI feature, Ggobook sends the prompt and the portions of your documents or prior conversation needed to fulfill the request to Google Gemini through Google AI services. Do not submit information that you are not authorized to process or that is unnecessary for your request.
Ggobook does not use private User Content to train its own general-purpose AI model. Google's processing, limited retention, safety monitoring, and any use for product improvement depend on the Google service tier and terms applicable to Ggobook's configuration at the time of processing. For more information, review the Gemini API Terms and Google Privacy Policy.
AI results may be inaccurate and are reviewed or acted upon at your discretion. Automated systems may also apply subscription limits or assess eligibility for trials and promotions. If you believe a restriction was applied incorrectly, contact us for review.
5. Public Content
Your documents, notes, chats, and private AI results remain private unless you affirmatively request or authorize public sharing. If a reading guide or other material is published, its content, related metadata, ratings, and usage counts may be visible to other users. Do not publish personal, confidential, or third-party copyrighted information without authority.
Public materials may remain available after account deletion to preserve the public Service. We will remove or de-identify the account linkage where reasonably possible, and you may request removal by contacting us. Content may also be retained when required to address infringement, safety, fraud, or legal claims.
6. Service Providers and Disclosure
We disclose information only as needed to operate the Service, at your direction, or as required by law. Current categories of recipients include:
- Google LLC and its affiliates: Firebase Authentication, Analytics, App Check, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Hosting, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, Crashlytics, and Google Gemini AI processing. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
- RevenueCat, Inc.: Subscription status, entitlement management, receipt validation, purchase analytics, and fraud prevention. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Apple Inc. and Google LLC: App distribution, sign-in where selected, in-app purchases, refunds, and subscription management under their respective terms.
- Professional advisers and authorities: Where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect users or the public, investigate misconduct, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
If the business or Service is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of assets, information may be transferred subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.
7. International Processing
Ggobook is operated from the Republic of Korea, while some providers process information outside Korea:
- Google LLC — United States and global Google infrastructure: Account identifiers, authentication data, User Content, AI prompts and responses, installation identifiers, device and usage data, and diagnostics are transferred electronically when you use the relevant feature. Processing is for hosting, authentication, storage, cloud functions, analytics, notifications, diagnostics, security, and AI generation. Retention follows Section 8 and the applicable Google terms.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — United States: App user ID, storefront, purchase history, transaction identifiers, subscription status, and entitlement information are transferred electronically when subscription services are used. Processing is for receipt validation, subscription management, analytics, support, and fraud prevention. Retention follows Section 8 and RevenueCat's applicable terms.
Where Korean privacy law applies, these transfers are made as necessary to perform the Service contract and provide the features you request, or on another lawful basis. Providers may use subprocessors identified in their terms. You may contact us to object to an international transfer; however, refusing a transfer essential to a requested feature may prevent us from providing that feature.
8. Retention
- Account and private User Content: While your account is active, until you delete the content, or until account deletion, unless a longer period is required for a legal claim or obligation.
- Publicly shared materials: Until the material is withdrawn or removed, subject to Section 5.
- Anti-abuse record after account deletion: HMAC-pseudonymized provider or verified-contact identifiers and summary counters relating to trials, promotions, account deletions, and AI usage are retained for up to 180 days, then scheduled for deletion. This record does not contain your original documents or chat content.
- Crash data: Firebase Crashlytics generally retains crash traces and associated installation identifiers for 90 days before deletion begins. Other analytics, hosting, security, and service logs follow configured settings, provider terms, and applicable law.
- Purchase and legal records: Retained for the period required by tax, accounting, consumer-protection, dispute-resolution, or other applicable laws. App stores and RevenueCat may retain independent transaction records under their policies.
- Backups: Deleted information may remain for a limited period in encrypted backups or provider recovery systems and is isolated from ordinary use until overwritten or deleted under the applicable backup cycle.
9. Deletion
You may delete individual documents and folders in the Service. You may delete your account through Settings > Account > Delete Account, or request assistance at support@ggobook.com. Active Firestore account data and private cloud uploads are recursively deleted through our account-deletion process, subject to Sections 5 and 8.
Electronic records are deleted using methods intended to make them unrecoverable through ordinary means. Physical records, if any, are destroyed securely. Deleting the app does not delete your account or cancel a subscription.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The web Service uses browser storage and similar technologies for language, theme, session, authentication, security, and analytics functions. Mobile apps use installation identifiers and local storage for equivalent purposes. Ggobook does not currently operate a third-party advertising network or use this data for cross-service behavioral advertising.
You can clear browser or app storage and adjust browser, device, notification, microphone, camera, photo, or analytics settings where available. Blocking technologies required for authentication, security, or storage may cause parts of the Service to stop working.
11. Your Rights and Choices
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, or a portable copy of your information. You may also object to certain automated restrictions and request human review. You can exercise many controls in the app or contact us. We may request reasonable verification before acting on a request.
You may manage push notifications through the Service or device settings and manage subscriptions through the store where they were purchased. Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
12. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including access controls, authentication, encrypted network transport, provider encryption at rest where supported, security rules, App Check, logging, and restricted administrative access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe a minor has provided information, contact us so that we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Service, providers, or law. We will post the updated Policy with its revision and effective dates and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required. Material changes will not apply retroactively where prohibited by law.
